Why Lineage Matters in Martial Arts
In martial arts, technique is passed down. Coaches teach what their coaches taught them, refined and improved through their own experience and competition. That chain of knowledge is called lineage, and it's the single most important credential a martial arts academy can have.
Lineage matters because it's the difference between learning the real art and learning something that looks like it. A coach with verifiable lineage can trace their training back through respected instructors all the way to the founders of the discipline. A coach without it is, at best, guessing, and at worst, teaching techniques that won't work when they need to.
Limitless is an official affiliate of three legitimate organizations. Our students learn the real thing.
Muay Thai: Serial Boxe Fight Team
Limitless is an official affiliate of Serial Boxe Muay Thai under Sensei Benjamin Schissler. Sensei Schissler is a respected international Muay Thai instructor and the creator of the Serial Boxe Striking System, a curriculum that has produced professional fighters and high-level competitors around the world.
Kru Ali Hanjani, our founder and head coach, trained Muay Thai directly under Sensei Schissler during his professional MMA career and continues to train within the Serial Boxe system. Coach Rachel Fiddes trains within the same lineage under Kru Ali.
What This Means for Students
The Muay Thai curriculum at Limitless traces directly back to authentic Thai lineage through Sensei Schissler. The techniques we teach are tested in international competition and refined through decades of professional fighting. This isn't a kickboxing program with Thai window dressing, it's real Muay Thai.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Shokunin BJJ Association
Limitless is an official affiliate of the Shokunin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association under Robert Wunderlich. Through this affiliation, our BJJ curriculum and rank progression are recognized through legitimate black belt lineage.
Kru Ali began his BJJ training under Black Belt Will Ellis of Pagsuko Fight Team in 2006. Coach Mark Kondenko has trained under Kru Ali since 2015 and competes within this lineage at Fight to Win and Grappling Industries tournaments.
What This Means for Students
In BJJ, your belt rank means something only if the coach who promoted you has the lineage to do so. Belts earned at Limitless are recognized through legitimate Shokunin BJJ Association lineage, which means your progression matters not just inside our gym, but anywhere in the BJJ world.
Wrestling: Team Altitude Wrestling Club
Limitless partners with Team Altitude Wrestling Club, a premier wrestling club dedicated to providing athletes with top-notch training, personalized coaching, and competition opportunities. Coach Josh DeSherlia, our wrestling coach and a collegiate All-American, brings his decades of coaching experience to both organizations.
What This Means for Students
Through this partnership, our adult wrestling students have access to broader competition opportunities and a wider coaching network, while maintaining the structured, sustainable training environment that defines wrestling at Limitless.
