Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for Lafayette, CO Residents

Grappling, submissions, and the art that proves leverage beats strength, under legitimate Shokunin BJJ Association lineage, just 15 minutes south of Lafayette. Your first class is free.

The Lafayette BJJ Gym With Real Lineage

Lafayette doesn't have a dedicated BJJ academy inside city limits with verifiable lineage. The few options closer to home tend to be small operations or martial arts schools that teach BJJ as a side discipline. For Lafayette students serious about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a long-term practice, Limitless Combat Academy in Broomfield is the closest gym with the lineage, coaching depth, and culture to support real progression.

A blue belt earned at a gym with verifiable lineage carries weight anywhere in the BJJ world. A blue belt earned at a gym without that lineage doesn't. We're an official affiliate of the Shokunin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association under Robert Wunderlich, meaning every promotion at Limitless is recognized within legitimate, verifiable progression. For Lafayette students who care about this difference, the 15-minute drive south is worth it.

Shokunin BJJ Association Lineage

Limitless is an official affiliate of the Shokunin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association under Robert Wunderlich. Kru Ali Hanjani began his BJJ training under Black Belt Will Ellis of Pagsuko Fight Team back in 2006, and our entire BJJ curriculum traces through this verifiable lineage. Coach Mark Kondenko: our beginner BJJ specialist, competes within this lineage at Fight to Win and Grappling Industries tournaments.

Both Gi and No-Gi Training

Our BJJ program includes both traditional gi training and no-gi grappling. Gi training teaches the classical art with all its strategic depth, grips, lapels, traditional position work. No-gi training adapts the same principles to a closer-to-MMA grappling environment. Most serious BJJ students train both.

What to Expect

First-class welcome

A coach greets you, gives you a tour, walks you through what to expect. We'll loan you a gi for your first class if you don't have one yet.

Warm-up & movement

Light cardio, BJJ-specific movement drills (shrimping, rolls, animal walks). Disorienting at first, normal by class three.

Technique instruction

A coach demonstrates a position, escape, sweep, or submission, broken down step by step. You partner up and drill slowly.

Live rolling (optional)

Toward the end of class, more experienced students roll live with partners. New students drill more, roll less. Rolling intensity is set by mutual agreement.

Why Lafayette BJJ Students Train Here

Verifiable lineage that holds up anywhere

Belt promotions at Limitless carry the weight of legitimate Shokunin BJJ Association lineage. If you ever move, travel, or train at another gym, your rank is recognized, because it's been earned within a verifiable progression.

A patient beginner pathway

BJJ has a notoriously steep learning curve, and many BJJ gyms throw beginners into the deep end. We don't. Coach Mark Kondenko specializes in beginner BJJ instruction, and our pathway is designed to build solid fundamentals before introducing intensity.

A no-ego culture that Lafayette students appreciate

Some BJJ gyms have aggressive, hyper-competitive cultures that scare off new students. Ours doesn't. Lafayette BJJ students consistently mention this was the deciding factor when comparing local options, and the difference is obvious within the first class.

A drive that pays back in progress

BJJ progression depends on consistency, 2-3 classes per week, every week. The 15-minute drive south on US-287 makes that genuinely sustainable. Many Lafayette students train more consistently than they would at a closer gym because the coaching here is good enough to make the trip worth showing up for.
