One-on-One Coaching, Tailored to You

Group classes are the heart of any martial arts academy, but they aren't always the right starting point for every student. Some people learn faster with focused attention. Some have specific goals, a fight, a weight cut, a self-defense scenario, a return to training after an injury. Some prefer to build their fundamentals privately before joining the mat with the rest of the group. And some simply can't make it to regular class times and need a schedule that works around them.

Private training at Limitless is designed for all of those situations. You'll work one-on-one with a lineages coach who builds a session around your goals, your level, and your body. Whether you're a complete beginner who wants to start in a low-pressure setting, an experienced athlete preparing for competition, or someone training for a specific outcome, strength, weight loss, self-defense, return to fitness, private training gets you there faster than group classes alone.

Below is what private training looks like, who it's for, who the coaches are, and how to schedule your free consultation.

Who Private Training Is For

Private sessions work for a wide range of students. Here are the most common reasons people choose 1-on-1 over (or alongside) group classes:

Complete beginners who want a low-pressure start

Walking into a group class for the first time is the hardest part of starting any martial art. Private sessions let you build fundamentals, stance, basic techniques, conditioning, in a quiet setting before stepping onto the mat with everyone else. Many of our private clients eventually transition into group classes with the confidence and skill to feel right at home.

Athletes preparing for competition

Whether you're cutting weight for a fight, sharpening a specific game plan, or working on weaknesses your opponent will exploit, private training accelerates the focused work that group classes can't always deliver. Kru Ali has cornered students in Muay Thai, BJJ, and MMA competitions throughout the country and brings that experience to every fight-prep session.

Students with specific goals

Weight loss. Stress relief. Return to fitness after an injury. Specific self-defense scenarios. A goal weight or strength benchmark. Whatever you're working toward, a private coach can design a session around it and adjust week to week as you progress.

Busy schedules

Group classes run on fixed times. Private sessions don't. We work around your schedule, early mornings, lunch breaks, evenings, weekends, and meet you where it's convenient. That flexibility alone is the reason a lot of professionals end up choosing private training.

Students who want faster progress

Group class is excellent for fundamentals, drilling, and live training, but a private session gives you something you can't get anywhere else: a coach's full attention for the entire hour. Every rep gets corrected. Every question gets answered. Every weakness gets addressed. Most students see in 4–6 private sessions what would take months in group class alone.

People training for self-defense specifically

If your priority is self-defense rather than sport, private training lets you skip the parts of traditional martial arts that don't apply to your goal and focus on the techniques and scenarios that do. We'll build a curriculum specifically around what's most useful for you.

What Private Training at Limitless Covers

You can train any of our disciplines in a 1-on-1 setting or combine them based on your goals. The most common formats:

Private Muay Thai

Striking-focused training with Kru Ali or Coach Rachel. Stance, pad work, technique refinement, conditioning, and, for competitors, game-plan-specific drilling. Lineages under Serial Boxe Muay Thai (Sensei Benjamin Schissler).

Private Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Grappling-focused training with Kru Ali or Coach Mark. Position-specific drilling, technique breakdowns at your pace, problem-solving for your specific game, and competition prep. Lineages under the Shokunin BJJ Association (Robert Wunderlich).

Private MMA / Mixed Sessions

Integrated training that combines striking, grappling, and wrestling for athletes serious about MMA or about building the most complete fighting skill set. Best for students with some foundation in at least one of the three core arts.

Strength & Conditioning

Led by Coach Mark, who holds a degree in Exercise Physiology from CU Boulder. Personalized programming for fat loss, muscle gain, athletic performance, return-to-training after injury, or sport-specific conditioning. Mark builds your program around your goal, not a generic template, and adjusts it as you progress.

Self-Defense-Focused Training

If your goal is real-world self-defense rather than sport, we'll build a curriculum around the most useful techniques and scenarios for you. Especially common for women, professionals, and people who travel for work.

Hybrid: Private + Group

Many students do both, a private session every week or two to focus on specifics, plus group classes for live training and community. We can recommend the right mix based on your goals.

What to Expect from a Private Session

Every private session at Limitless is built around you. Here's what a typical session looks like, though every coach adjusts based on your goals, your level, and what you need that day:

  • Pre-session check-in. Quick conversation about how you're feeling, what you want to focus on today, and anything that's come up since your last session.
  • Warm-up tailored to the work ahead. Light cardio, mobility, and movement specific to what you're about to train.
  • Technique and drilling. The core of the session, focused work on the specific techniques you're refining, with the coach correcting every rep.
  • Application or scenario work. Applying what you've drilled, through pad work, position sparring, conditioning, or competition simulation, depending on your goals.
  • Cool-down and review. Light stretching, plus a few minutes to talk through what went well, what to work on outside of session, and what to focus on next time.
  • Homework (sometimes). Simple drills, mobility work, or conditioning to do on your own between sessions if your goal benefits from it. Always optional, never overwhelming.

What Our Students Say

Limitless is an awesome gym with great coaches! They have amazing Muay Thai, Jiu jitsu, wrestling, mma and fitness classes. It is truly a family environment as everybody pushes each other to become better, and whether your looking to become a competitive martial artist, or just learn some self defense, Limitless has something for everybody.

- Matt K.

Great environment. Fantastic coaches and instructors. Actually help you learn the technique and provide a challenge at the same time. Definitely recommend this place if you’re trying to improve on yourself.

- Mohamed H.

I have trained at a few places and I am impressed with the level of training this place has to offer. If you are someone who is serious about this lifestyle, you need to come here. If you are someone who wants to just do it recreational, you need to come here, or if you are in between. The instructors are here to make sure you learn and the gym is welcoming. The first day on the mat, I felt like I was already apart of the tribe. So stop making excuses, get in and start getting that sweat going!

- Caid R.

This place has a positive environment with much more focus on camaraderie than most places I have been. The teachers here focus on their students and make sure you understand instructions. It’s not a huge place but that adds to it. I highly recommend taking the time to learn here.

- Ryan Q.

Fantastic gym to train at. Everyone is focused on technique rather than ego and the coaches want you to succeed no matter your skill level. Great for beginners too.

- David D.

I have been to a few gyms before Limitless and I have never felt so welcomed immediately. Everyone is very helpful and friendly in all of the classes. My 6 year old loves the kids class! I will never go anywhere else.

- Selena Ruiz-Solis

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need any martial arts experience to do private training?
No: in fact, private training is one of the best ways to start. Many of our private clients are complete beginners who want a low-pressure setting to build fundamentals before joining group classes. A 1-on-1 setting lets you ask all the questions you want, move at your own pace, and learn properly from the start.
  • How long is a private session?
Standard sessions run 60 minutes, long enough to warm up, work on technique, apply it, and cool down without rushing. Some students prefer 90-minute sessions for more in-depth work, especially competition prep. We can recommend the right length based on your goals during the consultation.
  • How often should I train privately?
It depends on your goals. Beginners building fundamentals often do 1–2 sessions per week. Competition-focused students may train 2–4 times per week during fight camp. Students using private training as a supplement to group classes typically do one private session every 1–2 weeks. We'll recommend a schedule during your consultation.
  • Can I train privately AND attend group classes?
Yes: and this is the most common format for serious students. Private sessions give you focused technical work and a coach's full attention; group classes give you live drilling, sparring partners, and community. The combination accelerates progress dramatically. We can structure a membership that includes both.
  • I'm preparing for a fight or competition. Can you corner me?
Yes. Kru Ali has cornered students in MMA, Muay Thai, and BJJ competitions throughout the country. If you're preparing for a competition, we'll structure a fight camp around your fight date, typically 6–12 weeks of intensive preparation including private sessions, group training, sparring, and corner support on fight night.
  • Can private training help me lose weight or get in shape?
Absolutely. Coach Mark holds a degree in Exercise Physiology and runs our strength & conditioning programming, built around your specific goals (fat loss, muscle gain, sport performance, return-to-fitness). Private S&C sessions combined with our martial arts classes deliver some of the most dramatic body composition changes you'll see anywhere.
  • Do you offer private sessions for kids?
Yes. Private sessions for kids can be a great option for children who need extra help building confidence before joining group classes, for kids preparing for competition, or for families whose schedules don't match our regular kids class times. Contact us to discuss what your child needs and we'll recommend the right coach.
  • What if I get injured or need to take time off?
We'll work with you. Private training is the most flexible format we offer, sessions can be rescheduled, paused, or adapted to work around injuries. If you have an injury that requires modification (back issue, knee surgery, postpartum return, etc.), Coach Mark's exercise physiology background makes him especially well-equipped to design safe training around it.
  • Can I train privately with a friend or partner (semi-private)?
Yes: we offer semi-private sessions for two people training together at a reduced per-person rate. Great for couples, friends, or training partners with shared goals. Mention this during your consultation.
  • Where do private sessions take place?
All private sessions take place at our academy, 585 Burbank St. Unit C, Broomfield, CO 80020, on our mats and with our equipment. We do not currently offer in-home training.
