Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for Boulder, CO Residents

Grappling, submissions, and the art that proves leverage beats strength, under legitimate Shokunin BJJ Association lineage, just 15 minutes south of Boulder. Your first class is free.

The Boulder BJJ Gym With Real Lineage

Boulder has a handful of BJJ options inside city limits, but the deeper you look at lineage and instruction quality, the shorter that list gets. Limitless Combat Academy in Broomfield, 15 minutes south on US-36, offers authentic BJJ under the Shokunin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association, meaning belt promotions earned here are recognized within legitimate, verifiable lineage.

For Boulder students serious about BJJ as a long-term practice, lineage matters. A blue belt earned at a gym with verifiable progression carries weight anywhere in the BJJ world. A blue belt earned at a gym without that lineage doesn't. We're the gym Boulder students who care about this difference end up training at.

Shokunin BJJ Association Lineage

Limitless is an official affiliate of the Shokunin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association under Robert Wunderlich. Kru Ali Hanjani began his BJJ training under Black Belt Will Ellis of Pagsuko Fight Team back in 2006, and our entire BJJ curriculum traces through this verifiable lineage. Coach Mark Kondenko: our beginner BJJ specialist, competes within this lineage at Fight to Win and Grappling Industries tournaments.

Both Gi and No-Gi Training

Our BJJ program includes both traditional gi training and no-gi grappling. Gi training teaches the classical art with all its strategic depth, grips, lapels, traditional position work. No-gi training adapts the same principles to a closer-to-MMA grappling environment. Most serious BJJ students train both.

What to Expect

First-class welcome

A coach greets you, gives you a tour, walks you through what to expect. We'll loan you a gi for your first class if you don't have one yet.

Warm-up & movement

Light cardio, BJJ-specific movement drills (shrimping, rolls, animal walks). Disorienting at first, normal by class three.

Technique instruction

A coach demonstrates a position, escape, sweep, or submission, broken down step by step. You partner up and drill slowly.

Live rolling (optional)

Toward the end of class, more experienced students roll live with partners. New students drill more, roll less. Rolling intensity is set by mutual agreement.

Why Boulder BJJ Students Train Here

Verifiable lineage that holds up anywhere

Belt promotions at Limitless carry the weight of legitimate Shokunin BJJ Association lineage. If you ever move, travel, or train at another gym, your rank is recognized, because it's been earned within a verifiable progression.

A patient beginner pathway

BJJ has a notoriously steep learning curve, and many BJJ gyms throw beginners into the deep end. We don't. Coach Mark Kondenko specializes in beginner BJJ instruction, and our pathway is designed to build solid fundamentals before introducing intensity.

A culture that takes the art seriously, but not itself

Some BJJ gyms have aggressive, hyper-competitive cultures that scare off new students. Ours doesn't. Boulder BJJ students consistently mention this was the deciding factor when they were comparing local options.

Easy drive from anywhere in Boulder

Most Boulder BJJ students train 2-3 times per week. The 15-minute drive south on US-36 means that's actually sustainable, far easier than a 30-minute trek across town to a gym closer to home.
